For all of you that don't know, Analicia has MRSA. The definition that I found for those that don't know is: MRSA is a type of Staphylococcus aureus resistant to certain antibiotics including methicillin and the more common antibiotics such as oxacillin, penicillin, and amoxicillin. MRSA incidence is on the rise in the US and it has now become recognized as a major community-acquired pathogen. Analicia's pediatrician Dr. Duffy sent a culture of the pus that was coming out of her ear. The culture showed that it was MRSA and that it was resistant to all antibiotics except Septra. That following week Analicia has a sever allergic reaction to the antibiotic. Dr. Duffy then sent her to a ENT (Ears Nose and Throat Doctor) Dr. Hill.
Dr. Hill called me and was concerned that Analicia may have it in her inner ear. Analicia's equilibrium is totally off and she walks like she has had been drinking all day. She has also been running into things. Analicia goes in for surgery this Wednesday March 11th at Primary Childrens Hospital. Dr Hill stated that he is going to go in and clean out the ears and re-do her tubes, removal of the adenoids and possibly tonsils, and exploratory surgery of the ears and sinus's. He's concerned that she may have an infected bone or a pulp some where that is causing all of this. Analicia will more then likely be kept due to the extent of the surgery in the hospital. Stay tuned for more details.
